Just To Fly My Kite

I don't think there's any kid on earth that wouldn't like to fly a kite! I should know. I used to own a red kite and i had such fun with it. I never liked to run, believe me. But i ran for my kite. Give me one right now, plant me in the middle of a park, and I'll run around like a peacock even if it kills me- just to fly my kite! :D

I'm Thankful For...

Happy Thanksgiving people. No matter what you're going through, i bet you'll still find at least seven things that you're thankful for! So, even though i've got several worries nagging at the back of my skull, i'm thanking to God for many many things. Seven of which are:

Home: Home is my haven, where I rest my head, and escape from the World. I can stay home all weekend in fact!
Birthdays: I've got a pretty large family, and I'm thankful that everybody still lives to see their next birthday.
Blogging: In addition to this blog, i've got a work blog and a rants blog. I've found that writing surprisingly makes me glad. I don't know whether i'm good at it or not, but i'm thankful that i discovered blogging
Home Cooking: I don't like to cook, so i'm thankful for my aunt who does. Really, she's a lifesaver!
Rugrats: I've got several little cousins and they bug the hell out of me! But they make me glad a whole lot cause they're cute, innocent, fun, and just plain amazing
Best Friends: Thank God for my two best friends. I can tell them whatever, and i can be myself with them.
Letters: A whole bunch of my family are schooling abroad this year. So i'm thankful for letters, emails, and long distance phone calls
May God give us many more things to be thankful for in the years to come.

Leggings and Tights

I am definitely a big fan of leggings and tights. They've become a fashion trend these days and no one but me will be happier to see them stay. They're practical (cause they keep the cold out) and fun to wear and style around. What can i say? It's a girly thing!

A Spot Of Light In The Distance

The Lighthouse is a Joy of Life because it is all about saving lives. It is a beacon of safety and warmth from the cold, hard storm. What more needs to be said?

Splash From A Mermaid

Ariel the Little Mermaid opened my eyes to the world of Mermaids. Logic tells me mermaids couldn't exist- i mean, there are practical things to think of like, where are their gills? and how come their human part is the same color as us and not slimy or something? etc. Still, i can't help but think that there is no smoke without fire. And i'm curious about where and how the myth about mermaids started.

In the meantime, i'm happy to see them in movies like The Little Mermaid, Splash, and Aquamarine. I don't know how come fishes are sexy, but Mermaids Rock!

Always Coca Cola Yeah

Someone recently said that when i'm drinking my Coca Cola i have on the same expression a baby drinking from her feeding bottle has. Everybody who knows me knows i really like Coke. Now, i cringe to think what this is doing to my sugar level, but like a nose sniffing junkie, i can't say No! Don't judge me. Coca Cola is my favorite drink (bar water perhaps), and it is definitely one of the Joys of my life.

In An Instant

I haven't seen a Polaroid photograph in forever. I think i'll snap up a Polaroid camera first chance i get. Even though it's vintage, i'd love to take some photographs and paste them to my wall in rows and columns (like in the fifth picture). I've always liked them- the hazy look, and white borders, and especially, how the pictures appear magically! I appreciate these features even more so in this era of digital film. Some might not agree, but Polaroids are worth mentioning as a Joy of Life.

Holidays That I Don't Have To Celebrate

Today is a Sallah holiday in Nigeria. What i like most about it is that i don't have to work for two days! Hehe. I can laze at home and do everything and nothing, and not have to do any work associated with celebrations. There's nothing as sweet as free Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Even yesterday was a lazy day as most Muslims were traveling from the capital to their home towns.

Today will be characterized by Muslim parties and gatherings, prayers, lots of food- especially Ram Meat, and of course, pilgrimage to Mecca. The streets are more empty than usual, and this will probably last till Friday. Muslims are sure to deliver bowls of fried ram meat to their neighbours (both Christians and Muslims, me included :D), and stores are giving Sallah discounts.

So, to my Muslim neighbours and friends - Barka Da Sallah
